Web Hosting -Part2- Introduction

Webhosting is a primary service that consumers can utilize after obtaining either dial-up or broadband access to the Internet. It allows you to:
- create a website that may act as an online visiting card and introduce your company to a wide range of viewers without incurring heavy advertising costs and double up as an online shop using eCommerce features your web host offers.
- share your own information resources, images or news with any Internet user who might be interested in it. Nowadays, people prefer blogs (weblogs) to websites for sharing and publishing information directly on the web.
- start an online community by developing a forum, online communities are very popular among internet users, top communities (forums) have more than 150,000 registered members.
Web hosting is based on the server-client model to distribute content. A web hosting provider offers its clients, access to a web server where the client can post his content for recipients or end users to view. Recipients use web browsers, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer, Safari, Mozilla Firefox, Opera or other popular browsers to view content from the web over their own Internet connection.
In these series of blogs I shall take up the advantages of web hosting and then come on to the basic points which shall be kept in mind while selecting a web host. these shall be the basic points that should be kept in mind for purchasing a shared web hosting account, however, shall also apply to the other types of web hosting which i shall take up later on in this series of articles. keep visiting back for more.
